Notes: Certified organically grown and Fair-Trade, meaning this coffee was purchased from small-holding farmers at a “fair” or economically sustainable price. It is also certified by the Smithsonian Institution as "Bird Friendly," meaning it is organically grown inside a forest-like canopy of multi-species trees. ISMAM (Indigenas de la Sierra Madre de Motozintla) is a cooperative with nearly 2,000 members of Mayan heritage in Tapachula, Chiapas, near the border with Guatemala. The sale of this coffee directly supports The Arbor Day Foundation’s Rain Forest Rescue Program, an initiative that the Foundation indicates has already saved nearly two billion square feet of rain forest. Blind Assessment: Crisp, pungently sweet-toned aroma: caramel, pineapple, nut, a hint of aromatic wood. In the cup softly balanced acidity, medium body. The pungent fruit reads as a cocoaish chocolate in the cup, with hints of lavender and molasses. The cocoa in particular carries into a rich finish.

Who should drink it: A coffee with absolutely impeccable environmental and social credentials and a distinctive cup.
